Allegation of sexual harassment: POCSO case against Shri of Murugamath

On the charge of sexual abuse of children, Dr. Muruga Rajendra Brihanmath of Chitradurga. A case has been registered against Shivratri Muruga Sharan in Mysore.

Swamiji is sexually harassing many female students of the hostel under the administration of Chitradurga's Brihanmath. This has been going on for many days and the students have approached the Mysore Comrades Service Organization saying that there is no hope of getting justice there.

Based on the complaint filed by the organization, the Mysore District Child Welfare Committee conducted an inquiry on Friday. The committee ordered that a case under the POCSO Act should be registered against Swamiji as there is truth in the statements of the children.

While Muruga Sharan was the first accused in this case, Warden was made the second accused. Basavaditya is the third accused. Apart from this, among the devotees of the Math, Paramashivaiah from Mysore and lawyer Gangadharaiah are the fourth and fifth accused.

According to the complaint given by C. Chandrakumar, Legal and Inspection Officer of the District Child Protection Unit, an FIR has been registered against Dr. Shivamurthy Muruga Sharan of Chitradurga Muruga Math, a prestigious monastery in the country, in Nazarabad police station, Mysore, based on the statement of two female students.

SSLC students had complained that Swamiji was sexually abusing us in the Muruga Mutt hostel in Chitradurga. The female warder used to send us to take fruit to Swamiji. If he went to the place where Swamiji was, he would make us come and abuse him.

Many female students had such experience and were afraid to complain. They claimed that they have filed a complaint with the Odanadi organization in Mysore because we did not get justice in Chitradurga. The companion organization had filed a complaint with the District Child Welfare Committee based on the statement of the children. During the inquiry, the children had recorded their experience before the committee.
